2013

10 March - 500 days to go until the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Watch (and sing along with) the Glasgow 2014 500 days to go video.

June - Clyde visits schools that have won a Game On Scotland competition.

July - Games for Scotland events are taking place across the country.

4 July - Youth Olympic Games host city announcement.

23 July - 1 year to go!

2013 - Tickets go on sale.

August 2013 - The Commonwealth Games Federation General Assembly is held in Glasgow, the annual meeting where the Commonwealth Games Associations come together to update on Games preparations.

Games for Scotland events are taking place across the country.

September 2013 - Constuction of the Hydro is complete.

3rd quarter of 2013 - The Athletes' Village construction work is complete.

9 October 2013 - The Queen's Baton Relay will be launched at Buckingham Palace. Over the next 248 days, the Queen's Baton will visit each Commonwealth country, before arriving in Glasgow for the Games Opening Ceremony.

2014

7 May – Game On Scotland Event: Promoting Equality and Diversity.

16 MayThe Big Dance Pledge – learn the dance and perform it simultaneously with others across the Commonwealth.

23 MayBig Big Sing song-writing competition deadline.

27 May – Learning Zone Glow Meet: CLD/Equality and Inclusion.

30 MayShutterbugs Goes Gold! photography competition deadline.

June - Games for Scotland events are taking place across the country.

JuneCulture 2014, a programme of cultural events taking place across Scotland in the run-up to the Games, begins.

June – Final Team Scotland athletes announced.

3 June – Learning Zone Glow Meet: Games Countdown.

14 June - Queen's Baton Relay arrives in Scotland – see details of when it’s in your local area.

16 JuneInspire>Aspire Awards ceremony.

17 June – Learning Zone Glow Meet: Games Countdown.

21 JuneThe Commonwealth Ceilidh – take part in Get Scotland Dancing’s global ceilidh.

28-30 June - Bannockburn Battle re-enactments staged.

13 July -Athletes' Village opens, complete with artwork from winners of the Athletes' Village Art Competition.

19 July - Festival 2014, a vibrant creative programme of cultural events taking place in Glasgow during the Games, begins.

23 July - Glasgow 2014 Opening Ceremony, Celtic Park.

23 July - 3 August - The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is staged, with 6,500 athletes and officials from 71 nations and territories competing in 17 sports over 11 days.

3 August - Glasgow 2014 Closing Ceremony, Hampden Park.

4 August - World War I Centenary.
